Six Key Design Elements

The Piscataquis Village Project incorporates Six Key Elements into its design code, resulting in the creation of a town unlike any other in the USA.

1. Small Plazas

2. Really Narrow Streets

3. Attached Buildings

In the Piscataquis Village Project, small plazas are linked together by a network of really narrow streets. The streets are bordered by attached buildings which front directly on, and shelter, the sidewalks. This configuration creates perimeter blocks with interior courtyards.

4. Arcaded Sidewalks

5. Interior Courtyards

6. Car Free

The Village is large enough and dense enough to contain a critical mass of population for an economy – small enough and compact enough to be conveniently walkable, allowing cars to be parked outside of it, around the edge. Simple!
